During my internship at BMW Designworks, I was inspired by an ongoing charging station project and began exploring new visual approaches to EV charging interfaces.
One idea from me reimagines charging progress by integrating it with the screen itself — a blue light radiating outward from the center, transforming progress from a numeric indicator into a spatial and perceptual experience. This idea was developed into a motion-driven visual concept using animation tools.

A Study of light in absence
My focus was defining a visual language for electricity as a form of energy. For catching the sense, it felt to be soft, diffused light with a sense of weightlessness and abstraction.
The visual explorations seemed like just one of many directions. But the blurred glow and deep blue felt right—quiet, soft, and in motion. It became the most intuitive way to express energy transition.
As UI elements and numerical information are layered in, this visual language evolves into the final expression of the charging experience.
